Abrianna Denae is a twenty-year-old author living in Northern California. An English major, she has always had a passion for writing. Abrianna spends way too much time on Facebook.

Interview with Abrianna Denae:

  1. What was the inspiration behind A Love Story? I’ve been reading M/M books for two years now. Never did I think I’d write one, however. That was until I read Male/Male by Seth King. Seth King is my idol and his book was about two indie authors who fall in love. It had some truths that we, indie authors, face and it almost scared me from ever writing a M/M books of my own. But, by the end I realized why I should write one. It was that overwhelming need to tell a great love story despite all the trouble that would come with it. When Jamie and Alex popped into my head I let them stew for two days before I started telling their story. All I wanted to do was tell a love story in all it’s flawed glory. And with an amazing book written by an amazing author, and two broken characters I think I managed it.
  2. What advice would you give an aspiring writer? Write the story you want to tell. Everyone will have an opinion about what you do, but if you don’t love it then it isn’t worth it.
  3. What do you think makes a good story? A great cast of characters that you either love, hate to love, or love to hate. I can still enjoy a book even if I hate the Main Characters.
  4. What can readers expect from you next? I’m going to start editing the second book in my M/F series soon. I have a few co-authored books I’m working on, and the second book in the Stories series is currently being written.
  5. There’s a big leap a writer takes from putting words down on paper for the love of it and actually publishing those words for public scrutiny. What was that journey like for you? It was scary. I had the idea for my first book for a few years. I started working on it on and off during August of my first year of year of college. I finished it the next November. I always knew I wanted to self-publish my work. I had been apart of the book community for four years and read some amazing books by indie authors. So deciding that part was easy. Figuring out all the moving parts were more difficult. I picked a release date before my book was even finished and afterward found the horrors of editing and trying to pick a cover. It’s been almost two and a half years since I first pushed the button and I am still in awe that I get to do this.
