Nick Perry is tired of helping people with their marriages, so when a spot opens up to work with teens at Camp H.O.W.L., he jumps at it. He doesn’t expect to fall in lust with the dreamy new camp doctor, Drew Welch. But Drew is human, and Nick has seen secrets ruin too many relationships to think that a human/werewolf romance can go anywhere.
Happy-go-lucky Drew may not sprout claws, but he’s been part of the Were community all his life. He has no trouble fitting in at the camp—except for Nick’s stubborn refusal to acknowledge the growing attraction between them and his ridiculous stance on dating humans. Fate intervenes when one of his private practice patients threatens Drew’s life. Will the close call help Nick to see a connection like theirs isn’t something to let go of?
4✨s – As the second book in the Camp H.O.W.L. series, you can read this as a standalone, but you’ll definitely enjoy both. In fact, for me, I enjoyed this one more. Two men meet on a plane unaware that they aren’t just headed to the same city, but the same final destination. Sparks fly and weather provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy each other, no strings attached. One and done, and gone in the morning. It’d be perfect, except…
Nick is a psychologist and werewolf, headed to his new job at the camp. He’s a little stuffy, has some preconceived ideas about relationships, especially with humans, and just wants this fresh start to drama free. Coulda happened too if not for Drew, the human doctor—and the aforementioned one night stand—from a shifter family who’s settling into his new job at the camp…
The fun of this book is watching these two men dance. Nick is so sure he cannot have a meaningful relationship with a human, no matter how much he’s drawn to Drew. Playful, loved by all, and just wants to be loved by his forever man, Drew doesn’t understand Nick’s issues, tries to respect them, but that draw…it’s hooked them both.
Explosive chemistry, lots of laughter, and a niggle of angst makes this a charming read and a great addition to the series.
